How a Mobile ADAS Calibration Provider Achieved 20% Growth and 90% Fewer Errors by Streamlining Collision Shop Workflows with Revv
Precision Calibration transformed its mobile ADAS calibration business by using Revv to streamline research, boost collision shop collaboration, and drive 15–20% growth through proactive, error-free workflows.
For mobile calibration specialists, success will never rely solely on technical expertise. It requires building trust with collision shops, ensuring nothing falls through the cracks, and staying ahead of increasingly complex—and constantly changing—ADAS requirements.
Precision Calibration understood this reality when they began searching for a solution that could help them move beyond simply responding to warning lights and emergency calls.
"I have worked with a bunch of [repair shops] where they may not be looking up information.” Patrick Vander Bee, Owner of Precision Calibration, said. “The car gets sent home and I just have a real heart-to-heart saying 'hey, we need to be doing these things for safety.'"
Sometimes these conversations didn’t go too well.
"Usually when that happens, they're just so overwhelmed with everything—their customers might be getting upset with them—and then how long it would take for them to find this [ADAS calibration information]."
Before implementing Revv, Precision Calibration faced the same challenges as many mobile calibration specialists: spending an hour if not more conducting manual research and concerns about accuracy that could undermine customer confidence.
"At the time using the OEM service data. Then every couple weeks I’d have to check all the updates on everything. Most of the times when someone would ask me [about a specific requirement], I would have to look it up each time in case it changed," Patrick recalls.
This thorough approach may have ensured accuracy but wasn’t scalable as Precision Calibration grew.
The team had previous experience with ADAS identification platforms through their work with other companies, but accuracy issues created more problems than solutions:
"The customers were using [another platform] and I was often getting questions about the accuracy of it. And it was definitely not as accurate as Revv. I found myself getting calls and actually supporting or correcting whatever this information was from that system."
Key challenges included:
After researching available options, Precision Calibration chose Revv for its combination of accuracy, ease of use, and customer-facing benefits.
"I think Revv has done a really good job in making it very easy. And I like that I personally can explain it. I can do the CCC integration, show them how they run the reports, and then where they get them," Patrick said.
Some of the highlights of their implementation and onboarding covered a few key areas:
Revv's intuitive design made it easy to train collision shop staff, reducing the burden on already overwhelmed estimators.
"I like that we can filter the model year of cars because there's one shop where they would just run like everything and then get nothing [and have to pay for those reports]. This works especially well for shops that are solely running older cars anyways."
"I like that a [shop owner] can run a report and then they say, 'oh, this car, I have this question about this report,' and then I can just pull it up and then answer their questions on it. I think that's very useful."
The impact was immediate and measurable, particularly with independent collision shops that previously struggled with ADAS identification.
"The mom and pop shops are seeing more of a bump. And I'd say some of 'em we've seen like a 15 or 20% bump and that's at a smaller shop that was doing lower volume and they picked up to the range I think they should be."
When comparing Revv to previous solutions: "I would say that there would be one-in-ten reports we’d run that’d have some wild stuff on it [with the previous platform]... I haven't had too many cases of insurance trying to deny things because of information."
"I actually don't even charge my customers for the reports because it sets us apart from the competition by giving added value. I just pay for the reports and the amount of work that's being generated from it basically pays for itself."
"Other people in my area aren't doing this, so it sets us apart. The more we can take off our customer’s plates, the more work we get."
The platform eliminated time-consuming research while maintaining the thoroughness that insurance companies require. Plus, customers can self-serve the information insurers are requiring in some cases: "When insurance companies do request additional documentation, I tell my customers like they can call me but what sometimes happens is the shop themselves is looking it up in ALLDATA or my website and passing that information along."
Looking Forward
Precision Calibration continues to leverage Revv as part of their broader strategy to become a comprehensive service provider for collision shops.
"We're just trying to maximize the stuff that we already have... trying to find more, maximize the work at the shops we already have. Revv is a major part of that plan."
Patrick’s advice to other calibration specialists considering Revv is to tap into our commitment to continuous improvement:
"Submit feedback. That's what I tell my technicians anytime they bring something up,” He said, “I'm always like, 'have you submitted the feedback and recorded it?' Because Revv really does listen and uses our feedback to change the software."
